The League of Women Voters of Chautauqua County will present an informative program on medical marijuana in the state of New York on March 20, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the JCC conference and training center 10807 Bennett Rd (Rt 60), Dunkirk.
In 2014, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo signed into law the Compassionate Care Act to establish a comprehensive medical marijuana program. New York State's Medical Marijuana Program allows patients who suffer from specific serious, severe debilitating or life-threatening conditions such as cancer, ALS, PTSD or Parkinson's disease (just to name a few) to be prescribed marijuana for medical reasons by a certified health practitioner.
Even though the program has been successfully running for the past five years, there is still much confusion about medical marijuana and how the program operates in the state. Kevin Harbison from PharmCannis will answer your questions and clarify how the program is managed in New York state.
Harbison is an experienced pharmacist, and manager of the PharmCannis a dispensary for medical marijuana located in Amherst. Kevin had extensive experience as a pharmacist prior to his current position as manager of the dispensary. His desire to learn the latest in medical care as well as pain management led him to accept the position at PharmCannis. Kevin has a doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of Buffalo. He is the preceptor for the pharmacy schools at The University at Buffalo, Albany, and D'Youville.
