Louis R. Voss

Louis R. Voss, 81, of Dunkirk died Monday morning (Feb. 5, 2018) at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk.

He was born June 8, 1936 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Walter H. Sr. and Florence (Sellen) Voss.

A lifelong area resident, Louis was a graduate of Dunkirk High School. He was a proud member of the United States Air Force from 1954 until his honor-able discharge in 1962. He worked at Cease’s Commis-sary as long time baker, and also had been employed at the Dunkirk Observer, and Shorewood Country Club.

He was an avid Yankees fan who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family.

Survivors include three daughters, Tracey (Nathan) Smith of Lusby, MD, Yvonne (Timothy) Wright of Fredonia, NY and Amy (Paul) Danler of Dunkirk, NY; one brother, Norman (Frances) Voss of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren, Margaret and Ian Wright and Emily, Tyler, and Joshua Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, infant Leonard, Walter Jr., Robert, and Thomas Voss; and two sisters, Kathryn Hazelton and Virginia Guenther.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
