Robert F.”Bob” Fortney

Robert F.“Bob” Fortney, age 76, of Fredonia, New York, died April 29, 2018 at his home with his family at his side. Bob was born in Ellwood City, Pa. on April 22, 1942 to the late

Raymond and Bertha (Burau) Fortney.He is survived by: his wife Jeanne (Fischer) Fortney, who he married in 1964; his children: Brian (June) Fortney of Mayville, N.Y., Donna (Robb) MacGregor of Fredonia. N.Y., and Stephanie Lancaster of Ardmore, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Jessica Fortney, Ashley Imm, Ray Fortney, Jason Lancaster, Rachael Fortney, Brynn MacGregor and Aiden MacGregor; a brother Richard (Phillis) Fortney of Tennessee and nephew Wayne(Annie) Fortney.

Bob is predeceased by his father Raymond Fortney, formerly from Ellwood Pennsylvania and his mother Bertha (Burau) Fortney, formerly of Butler, Pennsylvania.

Robert earned his Eagle Scout and God and Country Award through his participation in Boy Scouts. He graduated from Ellwood City High School in Ellwood City, Pa., Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pa and received his master’s

degree from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. For 33 years Robert taught biology, earth science and anatomy at Cassadaga Valley Central School. As a teacher, Robert was very active with the school community acting as a class advisor for many classes and clubs. During his career, he also served as president of the Cassadaga Valley Faculty

Association. Robert was also a long-time member of

Harvest Chapel Free Methodist Church in Fredonia. Besides spending time with his family, Robert enjoyed wine-making, wood carving, traveling throughout our country and overseas, birdwatching and playing the harmonica. Calls may be made Saturday, May 5, 2018, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home, 20 Central Ave., Fredonia, N.Y. Funeral services will be held at the Harvest Chapel Free Methodist Church, 39 Matteson St., Fredonia, N.Y., Sunday May 6, 2018 at 2 pm. A private interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery.
