The injury-riddled Fredonia Hillbillies dropped a 57-20 decision to Olean on Tuesday in CCAA high school wrestling action.

Fredonia, which is ranked No. 6 in Western New York, had a very young lineup with freshmen competing at 170, 182, 220 and 285 against the No. 3 ranked Huskies.

"Guys battled," Fredonia coach Joe Santilli said. "It was a challenge and they weren't afraid, but we battled. It bodes well for the future. We are just really unhealthy right now."

Giovani Russo had a strong match at 127 as he defeated Jake Bartlett, 3-1. Meanwhile, Jin Kim won by technical fall with a 17-2 victory over Kyle Liguori.

Hector Colom continued his solid season with a pin over Gavin Kult.

"It was an odd match," Santilli said. "It came down to which team had depth. They had a few wrestlers out of the lineup and we had a bunch out."

"Even if we had full lineup, we would still have our hands full with Olean," Santilli said. "The guys knew they had to go out for pride and do the best they could."

It does not get much easier for the Hillbillies as they travel to Falconer today to take on Western New York's top team before hosting rival Dunkirk on Thursday.
