GOWANDA -- Ethan Fort's pin of Everett E. Leonard at 113 pounds swung the match in Gowanda's favor Friday afternoon as the Panthers (16-9) topped Franklinville, 48-37, in non-league high school wrestling action.
"It was a good meet all the way around," Gowanda head coach Mark Leos said. "There were some really tight matches and we had a big pin for us by Ethan. That really gave us the victory."
Also winning by fall for Gowanda was Dave Poff at 126, as he took down Jeff Hebdon in 2:22. The Panthers' other wins all came by forfeit.
Winning for Franklinville were Jake Peters (152), Dooley Brennan (160), Derek Langdon (170), Nolan Palmatier (99), Michael Defoe (120), Kaylum Goodell (132) and Caleb Palmatier (138).
Gowanda is back in action today at Starpoint for the Division II duals.
"We're going up there to upset some teams," Leos said of his eighth-seeded Panthers.
