MAYVILLE -- The Chautauqua Lake-Westfield-Panama high school wrestling team defeated Maple Grove, 40-31, Friday.
Five Chautauqua Lake wrestlers won by pinning opponents. At 99 pounds, it took 2:36 for Trent Burchanowski to win by fall over Brendan Russo. In the 113-pound event, Wyatt Meeder pinned Maple Grove's Kynan Egan in 43 seconds. Chautauqua Lake's Noah Dorman pinned Riley Danielson in 32 seconds during the 145-pound bout. Derek Ecklund won by fall in 1:05 over Caleb Roller at 152 pounds, and at 220 pounds, the Thunderbirds' Ben Szymanowski pinned Zechariah Padd in 37 seconds.
For Maple Grove, there were three wrestlers with pins. At 138 pounds, the Red Dragons' Taige Jones bested Alex Johnson in 25 seconds. Jake Tomlinson took the 170-pound match in 36 seconds by fall over Bradley Babcock. The victor of the 182-pound bout was Zach Trim, who needed 1:52 to pin the Thunderbirds' Quinton Fredrick.

OLEAN -- The Olean Huskies beat Fredonia High School in a Thursday meet.
Four Fredonia wrestlers managed non-forfeit victories. Peter Calanni topped Damon Liguori by a 10-0 major decision in the 113-pound event. At 120 pounds, the Hillbillies' Antonio Pagan pinned Olean's Gavin Hatch in 4:46.
The 132-pound match went to Dalton Gardner, who won by fall over Kaden Cruz in 45 seconds. Finally, Fredonia's Giovani Russo was declared winner by technical fall 3:17 into his 145-pound competition with Gavin Kulp.
