Legion Post 59 sets Chili Cook-Off American Legion Post 59, located at 156 E. Main St., Fredonia, will hold a Chili Cook-Off on Sunday at 2 p.m. The event is open to the public. There will be trophies, prizes and bragging rights for the following categories: traditional chili and open category — chowder, gumbo, soup or side dish. The cost is $5 for entry, taste/judge. All proceeds benefit the flagpole project. Dunkirk church plans Lenten Recital series

The Annual Lenten Recitals will once again be held at the First United Presbyterian Church at 19 W. Fourth St. in Dunkirk beginning on Wednesday, March 11 at noon with recitals also performed on March 18and March 25. The recitals this year will feature local musicians in half hour recitals highlighting literature appropriate to the season. The opening recital in the Lenten series will feature Virginia M.
