DiNapoli audit critical of Western OTB oversight

An audit released Wednesday by state Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli of the Western Regional Off-Track Betting Corp. found poor oversight of operations by the board of directors, cost overruns and significant estimation errors. The audit found the agency’s failure to take action to address the declining handle, the total amount wagered on horse races and other gaming activities, adjust to changes in the gambling industry, and control costs limited the amount of revenues provided to participating municipalities. The Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation is accepting applications for the Service Learning Grants Program for the 2026-27 academic year. Service Learning is a teaching and learning method that connects classroom lessons to real-world, meaningful community service. Jamestown taking over parcels with homeless squatters

A dozen parcels in the city of Jamestown that are currently owned by Chautauqua County are being transferred to the city so they can be cleaned up and remove homeless people staying there. The parcels were owned by Kristie White but were foreclosed on by the county after the taxes were not paid on them. HANOVER — A number of personnel items and issues have been addressed in the past month. The Town Board approved a title change of Alex Fenske to full-time Assistant Inspection Officer at a rate of $23 per hour. The title of Ronald Raczka was also changed to part-time Assistant Inspection Officer and part-time Clerk II at a rate of $22.50 per hour.
