SILVER CREEK — Teachers at Silver Creek Central Middle School have the opportunity every academic year to select two students per grade level to serve as Knights of the Month. The students are selected based on the following criteria: strong work ethic, helpfulness, respectfulness and cooperation with others, along with a specific focus on the character trait of the month.
Knights of the Month for March 2017 and the trait of sincerity are: Kassidy Herspold, Ryleigh Lawton, Jackson Williams, Sincere Becker, Alivia Penman and Myah Como.
As defined by the Character Council of Western New York, the March Knights of the Month demonstrate sincerity by being all they can be, taking responsibility for their own actions, respecting others’ opinions, always meaning what they say and not taking advantage of other people.
Knights of the Month for April 2017 and the trait of virtue are: Jessica Didas, Kylie Procknal, Shandon Monroy, Roger Williams, Lacee Watkins and Jessica Pulver.
As defined by the Character Council of Western New York, the April Knights of the Month demonstrate virtue by doing what is right and encouraging others to do the same; guarding their eyes, ears, words and thoughts; learning to stand alone; abstaining from anything that might damage or pollute their mind or body; and treating others as they want to be treated.
Each received a certificate and a $5 gift certificate to be spent at the student-run Knight’s Korner Store. The recipients and their families are presented with certificates and pins at a Board of Education meeting.
