WACS names Middle School Students of the Month
Lena Zimmer
WESTFIELD — On a monthly basis, Westfield Middle School honors one student at each grade level as the Student of the Month. Teachers and staff had the opportunity to nominate one student who they believed met the following criteria:
1. Follows Westfield’s Rules of Respect for staff and peers
2. Shows outstanding effort and improvement or shows achievement and consistent high scores on tests, quizzes and projects
3. Prepared daily to participate in all classes
4. Serves as a positive role model for peers
5. Demonstrates a positive attitude and good citizenship
Three students were selected as a Student of the Month for the month of February.
In sixth grade, Carter Russo was selected as Student of the Month. In school, Carter enjoys physical education and math the most. Outside of school, Carter plays baseball and is a member of the Erie Outlaws travel baseball team. In the future, he hopes to attend UNLV after graduating from high school and continue playing baseball at the collegiate level.
The seventh grade Student of the Month is Cody Hoffman. The subjects Cody enjoys most in school are social studies (Mr. Meegan likes to joke around) and technology because he enjoys working in the woodshop. Cody plays drums and hopes to one day be part of a famous rock band (with his brother, Collin, on guitar) and tour the world.
Lena Zimmer is Westfield’s eighth grade Student of the Month. Like Cody, she also enjoys social studies because learning about history is interesting. English class is another one of her favorites, because she likes writing. When she’s not in school, Lena plays piano and has fun cooking and baking. In the future, she would like to move to New York City and have a successful career as an entrepreneur.
