On a monthly basis, Westfield Middle School honors one student at each grade level as the Student of the Month. Teachers and staff had the opportunity to nominate one student who they believed met the following criteria: 1. Follows Westfield’s Rules of Respect for staff and peers. 2. Shows outstanding effort and improvement or shows achievement and consistent high scores on tests, quizzes and projects. 3. Prepared daily to participate in all classes. 4. Serves as a positive role model for peers. 5. Demonstrates a positive attitude and good citizenship.

The three students were selected as a Student of the Month for the month of March: In 6th grade, Devon Hood was selected as Student of the Month. Devon’s favorite subjects in school are PE and ELA. Outside of school, Devon spends most of his spare time playing video games, and in the future, he hopes to become an engineer for the U.S. Military.

For 7th grade, Jeminy Houser was chosen. Art, Music, Chorus and ELA are her favorite school subjects, because she is good at them and she loves to draw. Outside of school, Jeminy draws pictures and enjoys learning about dinosaurs. In the future, she would like to attend college to become a paleontologist.

Tyler Nichols was chosen as the 8th grade Student of the Month for March. Tyler’s favorite subjects are Science, because he loves the teacher, and PE, because there is no homework for that class. Tyler likes to participate in sports outside of school, because even though he’s not that competitive, he likes to stay in shape. In the future, he hopes to continue working hard and being successful in school.
