Chautauqua Lake announces Top 10 students for 2020

MAYVILLE — Senior recognition traditions continue at Chautauqua Lake Central School to honor the Class of 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Secondary Principal, Dr. Joshua Liddell, and Guidance Counselor, Jessica Cowan, announced the Top 10 Students for the Class on 2020 on Friday, May 15. The announcement was made virtually through a video on the district’s website and Facebook page.

“Our Top 10 scholar students have excelled in the most rigorous coursework Chautauqua Lake has to offer and they exemplify what we want to see from all of our students,” said Secondary Principal Dr. Joshua Liddell. “Because of their substantial academic effort, they have positioned themselves to have a successful transition to college and/or a career.”

Naomi Fisher was named as the Valedictorian and Peyton D’Anthony was named as the Salutatorian for the Class of 2020.

The following students earned the honor of being one of Top 10 Students for Chautauqua Lake:

Valedictorian: Naomi Fisher, who plans to attend Georgetown University to study Biology on the pre-med track to become a physician.

Salutatorian: Peyton D’Anthony, whose plans include studying International & Global Studies, along with Spanish, at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Sophia Woodis, who will attend Cornell University for Environmental Engineering.

Karli Gifford, whose plans are to study Architecture at Ohio State University.

Phillip Maas, who plans to attend SUNY Fredonia to become a Math Teacher.

Alanna Burlee, who will be attending Binghamton University to study Psychology.

Liam Thompson, who is enlisting in the Army to become a Practical Nurse.

McKenna Dorman, who plans to study International Relations at SUNY Geneseo.

Madison Kramer, who plans to attend the University at Buffalo for Criminology.

Logan Walczak, who will be studying National Security and International Studies at Baldwin Wallace University with hopes of becoming a translator in the Navy.
