Erica Rojas

The Dunkirk Democratic Committee announced it will be awarding Erica Rojas a $250 scholarship from the Dunkirk Democratic Committee Scholarship Fund. Bob Bankoski, the driving force behind the Scholarship Fund, has notified Erica and dropped off the scholarship check at the Dunkirk High School in order Principal Al Gens can assure Erica will receive it.

A few quotes from Erica’s winning essay: “However, besides my dad’s misfortunes as an immigrant, he still found a way to express his enthusiasm to me through his powerful words of wisdom of valuing the importance of education and community service.” And, “Even while taking every education opportunity I can, I have been also enjoying my time participating in community service events such as volunteering my time at a pantry every Wednesday with my dad by helping those in need of food, cleaning up the beach, babysitting kids, and devoting my time at my church, as it is a way for me to escape reality.”

“Thank you to all of the Dunkirk Committee members who made this scholarship and the entire fund possible. We are honored and proud of you Erica!”
