Dr. Ali Feser

Dr. Ali Feser, daughter of Al and Melony Feser of Dunkirk, graduated from the University of Chicago with a doctorate of anthropology in June 2020.

Her dissertation, “Reproducing Photochemical Life in the Imaging Capital of the World,” is an ethnography of American visual culture, industrial capitalism and the political fantasy through a materialist history of Kodak film.

A Harper Schmidt Fellow and Collegiate Associate Professor in the Social Sciences at the University of Chicago, she is currently working on a book manuscript based on her research.
