Employee to retire after 47 years

Mike Goon, a maintenance mechanic with Jamestown Community College’s buildings and grounds staff since September 1974, will retire in November, shortly after starting his 47th year at the college. Goon, who has served under eight presidents at JCC, said, “I’ve seen lots of changes over the years but I’ve always enjoyed working outdoors,” said Goon, whose responsibilities include mowing, snowplowing, and landscaping, “because if things look nice, I think people are more likely to visit the college.” Although he will miss working with his JCC colleagues, Goon plans to begin retirement by being with family in Florida.
