Dunkirk Historical Society dedication ceremony for Elnora Babcock roadside marker

627 Washington Ave., Dunkirk, 4 p.m. Representing the city will be Mayor Wilfred Rosas and City Council members. Historical commentary by Traci Langworthy and City Historian Diane Andrasik. A reception follows at the Dunkirk Historical Museum, 513 Washington Ave. The marker honors Dunkirk resident Elnora Babcock for her efforts to secure the right to vote for women. An original manuscript of one of Babcock’s handwritten speeches will be on display along with other documents and photos. Remarks by Andrasik and the society’s president, Greg Catalano. Lakeshore Humane Society Wednesday open adoption hours

The Lakeshore Humane Society, 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk, will hold open adoption hours from 6 to 8 p.m. The public is welcome to see the dogs and cats in need of loving homes.
