Chautauqua County Beekeepers Association seminars

Fluvanna Community Church, 3363 Fluvanna Ave., Jamestown. 11 a.m.: Show-and-tell presentation of basic equipment and protective clothing required to get started in beekeeping; noon: review of the seasonal progression of management chores, choice and obligations through the year; 1 p.m.: show-and-tell presentation on using beeswax to make candles, salves and balm; 2 p.m. coordinator of Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Master Gardeners program Shannon Rinow will discuss gardening with native plants to favor pollinators. Lakeshore Humane Society Saturday open adoption hours

The Lakeshore Humane Society, 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk, will hold open adoption hours from noon to 3 p.m. The public is welcome to see the dogs and cats in need of loving homes. Tours of the facility will not be given. Individual appointments are available throughout the week by leaving a message at 716 672-1991; press “1” for dogs or “2” for cats. One must be 21 years of age or older to adopt a pet. The Cat’s Meow Boutique will be open for purchases by the public. For details, call 716 672-1991.

Fenton History Center Library Lock-in

Hall House Research Center, 73 Forest Ave., Jamestown, noon to 10 p.m. The Fenton History Center’s skilled and knowledgeable staff will assist participants with discovering their family’s roots.
