Lakeshore Humane Society Saturday open adoption hours
The Lakeshore Humane Society, 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk, will hold open adoption hours from noon to 3 p.m. The public is welcome to see the dogs and cats in need of loving homes. Tours of the facility will not be given. Individual appointments are available throughout the week by leaving a message at 716 672-1991; press “1” for dogs or “2” for cats. War of 1812 cemetery marker ceremony for General Putnam Farrington
Old south section of the Cherry Creek Central Cemetery, Route 62 (formerly known as Highland Cemetery), 2 p.m. Ceremony on north side, followed by trip to the headstone to place the marker. Cherry Creek VFW will conduct an honor ceremony, Cherry Creek Historian Tim Nobles will do a presentation about General Farrington, past Cherry Creek Historian and presentation by current Cemetery Board Commissioner Sharon Howe Sweeting. Presented by the local Celea Sampson Cole Chapter 507 of the United States Daughters of 1812. Public welcome.
