Church planning free community meal
GOWANDA — The Trinity United Church, located at Erie Avenue and Park Street, Gowanda, will host a take-out only free community meal at the Park Street entrance on Saturday, Feb. 8 from 4 to 6 p.m. or gone. The menu is goulash, tossed salad, fruit, bread and cookie. Free will donations are appreciated but not necessary. Drive East Main to Railroad Avenue and then down Park Street, following the signs, or walk up. Everyone is welcome. The next meal is March 8.
Sons of Legion meeting Tuesday
The Sons of American Legion Squad 59 will be holding their monthly meeting on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Post 59, 156 E. Main St., Fredonia. All SAL Squadron 59 are encouraged to attend the meeting.
Dayton plans hearing on solar laws
DAYTON — The Town Board will hold a public hearing at the Dayton Town Hall, 9100 Route 62 on Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. to hear all interested parties and citizens regarding the adoption of proposed Local Law 3 of 2024, which is proposed to repeal Local Law 1, of 2O18 entitled “Solar Energy Systems” and enact a new law regulating solar Energy systems. said hearing may be adjourned from time to time as necessary. Further information, including access to a copy of said proposed Local Law, may be obtained at the Dayton town clerk’s office.
Lakeshore Humane Society plans ‘Souper Bowl Saturday’ The Lakeshore Humane Society will hold a special “Souper Bowl Saturday” event at its Adoption Center on Saturday, Feb. 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Center is located at 431 E. Chestnut St. in Dunkirk. A variety of homemade soups will be available for purchase. (Vegetarian options will be available on a first-come, first-served basis). There will also be bread, beverage, and dessert. For $20, have your soup and take home a beautiful bowl hand-crafted by members of Mudslingers, the local pottery group based in Fredonia. Lunch without the artisanal bowl is available for $15. Come and warm up with some soup, while supporting LHS’s efforts to help dogs and cats in need of caring homes.
While at the LHS Adoption Center, check out the “Cat’s Meow” Boutique, where you can find pet-related items and further support LHS. Also, note that LHS is collecting refundable bottles and cans in a collection bin in the lobby of the Adoption Center.
The usual weekly Saturday Open Adoption Hours will not be held this day, but will resume on Feb. 15. Open Adoption Hours are also held each Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
