Cassadaga Winter Festival
Frozen 50K at Cassadaga Community Room/Fire Hall, 22 Mill St., 8 a.m. Aid station at starting point of 3.1 mile loop around lake. Complete as many loops as desired. Warming location inside community room, restrooms. Take as many breaks as desired, which will be counted in finish time. No cut-off times. Call 716 353-1288. Vendor show at Cassadaga American Legion, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Light lunch available. Noon to 2 p.m. fun on the beach on Park Avenue. Fire pits, S’mores, tether ball, street hockey, prize drawings, ice sculpture carving. Chili, hot chocolate provide by Park Church. Coffee for sale at 3 Lakes Cafe. At 1 p.m., SCREAM Polar Dip for $20, in memory of Dennis Collins. Proceeds benefit Cassadaga Library. From 2 to 4 p.m. at the library, 18 Maple Ave., Tonya and her goats, craft, treats, stories for all ages. 5 to 7 p.m. Soup-er bowl soup cook-off at Park Church, 25 Maple Ave., no cost to enter or attend. Salad, bread also provided by the church.

Lakeshore Humane Society Saturday open adoption hours
The Lakeshore Humane Society, 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk, will hold open adoption hours from noon to 3 p.m. The public is welcome to see the dogs and cats in need of loving homes. Tours of the facility will not be given. Individual appointments are available throughout the week by leaving a message at 716 672-1991; press “1” for dogs or “2” for cats.
