Chautauqua County Beekeepers to meet Thursday
Chautauqua County Beekeepers Association will meet on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Frank Bratt Agricultural Center on Turner Road, Jamestown.
Laura and Dennis LaMonica will presenting “Chautauqua County and The Golden Age of Beekeeping: 1870-1900.” New York state was the “epicenter” of beekeeping and honey production in the late 19th century. This presentation will describe the early history of the Chautauqua Co Beekeepers Association, as well as the contributions of some local individuals and businesses.
Winterization of honey bee colonies and an update on the demonstration apiary and honey will also be discussed.
