Sunset Yoga to begin at the Dunkirk Lighthouse

Summer is right around the corner and one of the area’s most spectacular attractions is the beautiful Lake Erie sunset. This summer, the Dunkirk Lighthouse will be featuring a Sunset Yoga series, in which yogis of all experience levels will be guided through an hour-long Vinyasa-style practice instructed by Lynda Sandoval, owner of Yoga Underground located in Dunkirk.

The sessions are scheduled for the sunset hour, from 8 to 9 p.m., and will be happening every Tuesday beginning on Tuesday through Aug. 30.

This offers the perfect opportunity to take in the Lake Erie views while relieving stress through guided yoga instruction. Located at 1 Point Drive North, the Dunkirk Lighthouse sessions are $10 each, with 30 percent of all proceeds going directly to the Dunkirk Lighthouse.

For more information on this event, or to purchase a discounted multi-session punch card, visit YogaUndergroundFredonia.com, email yogaundergroundfredonia@gmail.com, or text Lynda directly at 303-904-0975.

Participants should plan on bringing a yoga mat and drink to their yoga session. Dunkirk Lighthouse gates will open at 7:30 p.m. and participants are encouraged to arrive early if they are new to Yoga Underground or would like to purchase a punch card.

Dunkirk Lighthouse Operations Director David Briska and new lighthouse board member Monica Kemp are delighted to have events at the lighthouse that help to support its sustainability and greatly appreciate the generosity of Lynda Sandoval.

The Dunkirk Lighthouse has been in operation since its establishment on Point Gratiot in 1827.

The lighthouse, which is still active as a navigational aid to Lake Erie vessels, is operated by a team of local volunteers. It is also home to the Veterans Park Museum, and serves as the venue for many community and private events throughout the season.

This is their first collaboration with Yoga Underground, which was founded in Dunkirk in 2015. Yoga Underground was created with the vision of a strong commitment to community, and a goal of “finding new and different ways to be a catalyst for positive change in Dunkirk, Fredonia, and the surrounding villages.”

This partnership with the Dunkirk Lighthouse is one of many ways they strive to give back to the community.

Starting at $3.50/week.
