Forestville Chapter 247 Order of the Eastern Star holds meeting
FORESTVILLE – Forestville Chapter 247 Order of the Eastern Star met at the Masonic Hall, Main Street, Forestville on Sept. 20 with Worthy Matron Beth Benchley and Worthy Patron Lance Parker presiding at the 7:30 p.m. meeting, which was preceded by a 6 p.m. tureen dinner.
District Deputy Grand Matron Peg Heiden and District Grand Lecturer Greg Heiden were escorted to the East by Conductress Jackie Olszewski and Associate Conductress Lori Petersen, where they were accorded Grand Honors.
Secretary Kathy Parker and Treasurer Peg Heiden gave respective reports.
The nominating committee is Martha Woolley, Donna Johnson and Greg Heiden.
Upcoming dates were announced as follows: set up Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. for Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the Fall Festival at Forestville High School; Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m.: Sister Chapter Night at Forestville; Oct. 13 to 15 is Grand Chapter: Mary Prue will be the delegate.
On Oct. 25 at 7 p.m., Forestville Past Matrons meet at Beth Benchley’s house; on Oct. 30 from noon to 4 p.m. there is a public spaghetti dinner at Forestville OES, with Ruth Kuehn as chairman. The costs are $10 or $6 for large or small. Nov. 1 is report night and election of officers.
On Friday, Nov. 4, there will be a towel party at Forestville OES. Doors are open at 6:30 p.m., with play starting at 7 p.m. $5 entry gets you two boards; extra boards are $1 each.
On Nov. 13, Chautauqua County Past Grand Officers meet at Mt. Sinai/Mecca Chapter in Jamestown at 2 p.m. Nov. 15 at 7:30, the Forestville OES installation of officers will take place.
On Sunday, Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. at the Masonic Hall, Main Street, Forestville will be the OES Homecoming of current district officers and reception for new district officers.
