Breast cancer awareness event Friday
When someone you know is struggling, it is human nature to want to help. This is the case when it comes to breast cancer.
On Friday, a fundraiser called POUND for PINK will take place at Jamestown Community College North County campus to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer. Proceeds from this event will be shared, going to the RO Foundation and Roswell Park Cancer Institute, as chosen by the event guest of honor, Jodi Lawrie Rzepka.
“Since being diagnosed with breast cancer in November, people have referred to me as their hero. I am not a hero. My family, friends, fellow fitness enthusiasts, pink sisters, doctors, nurses, and my community – they are the real heroes,” stated Rzepka. “Without their support and compassion, without their help and concern, I would not be here to celebrate each and every day, and I am honored and humbled to have been chosen as this event’s guest of honor.”
The event, which runs from 4 to 9 p.m., is free to the public and local vendors will be onsite selling their products from 4 to 8 p.m. (a great start to holiday shopping or maybe treat yourself to a little something!) Culminating the event, Tamara Racino will be hosting a POUND class from 8:15 to 9 p.m.
Other activities will be available during the event, including baked goods, raffle baskets, T-shirt sales and more. Come show your support! For additional information or to donate, follow the Facebook event POUND for PINK or contact Tamara Racino at 785-2099 or email@example.com.
