Erie County Fair awards Blue Ribbon to Fredonia Grange

Fredonia Grange amplified its presence during the recent Erie County Fair when judges awarded Fredonia’s booth a coveted Blue Ribbon for the best project theme of Community Dancing. The award reflects what has been through the years and hopefully will continue to be a traditional program of the Grange despite the stated retirement of the dance director Kathy Fox.

Adjacent to the ribbon are two SUNY Fredonia students, Shelby and Jordan pictured in the activity enjoying the activity. Additionally, Shelby so appreciated the Grange community dance program that when she learned of the pending Chautauqua and Erie County fair exhibit, she created the metal sculpture of a dancing couple as an art class project.

With the display arranged by Grange fair booth chairman Tom Hebeisen, more help for the successful project came from Fredonia village resident Ricky Inwood – mannequin; Grange members Joe and Karen Kwiatkowski – ideas, collage poster, and costume; member Mark Mackey – posters; and friends of the Grange as well as occasional dancers Crystal Beeghley and Gretchen Smith – set-up.
