Westfield recreation announces upcoming events

The Westfield Recreation Department announces the following events:

PICKLEBALL ON MONDAY EVENINGS AT EASON HALL

The adult pick-up pickleball group meets on Monday evenings at Eason Hall from 7-9 p.m. Participants do not need to sign up, they can just show up to play. There are a few spare paddles if you need to borrow one. Play will resume on Monday.

This program is free to the public and is sponsored by the Westfield Recreation Department. Please call Andrew at 753-6842 with any questions.

FRIDAY NIGHT ROLLER SKATING AT EASON HALL

Roller skating continues Friday, Jan. 18, with sessions at 6 to 7:30 p.m. for Pre-K to fifth grade and 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. for sixth grade and up. There will also be a special early session from 5:30 to 6 p.m. for second grade and younger. Skaters are asked not to arrive more than 15 minutes early for their session. Skating and horseplay in the street, on the sidewalk, or down the sides of the building is not permitted. Anyone leaving the building will not be allowed back in. Rough behavior, suggestive dancing and profanity will not be tolerated.

The cost, including rentals, is $1 and the concession stand will be open. Parents willing to chaperone are asked to call Andrew at 753-6842. Please note, there needs to be parent chaperones in order to do the second session. You do not have to be there every week.

Waiver forms must be turned in before your child comes to skating for a second night.

2019 INDOOR YOUTH SOCCER SIGNUPS

Registrations for the Northwest Chautauqua Indoor Youth Soccer League for area boys and girls will be held the second and third weeks of January. The season starts in February and will continue through April. Games are on Saturdays. Signups are for children in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.

Age Groups: Pre-K/Kindergarten; first through third grades; third through fifth grades; sixth through eighth grades. (Please note that parents of third graders can decide if they want their child to play up or down in grade groups.)

The sixth to eighth graders will be split into two different groups (competitive & recreational) as opposed to several different teams. Each group will have a set time to play each Saturday. We will pick teams each week and play. Parents can request a group, but final group determinations are made by the recreation director.

Tuesday, Jan. 8 6-8 p.m. at the Eason Hall in Westfield

Wednesday, Jan. 9 6-8 p.m. in the main lobby at CLCS in Mayville

Monday, Jan. 14 6-8 p.m. at the Country Fair in Brocton

Tuesday, Jan. 15 6-8 p.m. at Meeder’s Restaurant in Ripley

Wednesday, Jan. 16 6-8 p.m. at the Eason Hall in Westfield

Note: Starting on Tuesday, Jan. 8, you can also sign up by stopping by Eason Hall at the village window during business hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m) or by printing a form off of the recreation department’s website www.westfieldny.com/recreation and mailing it to 23 Elm St., Westfield, NY 14787.

The fee for Westfield residents is $30 for the first child, $25 for the second and $20 for the third (maximum of $75 per family). *Partial scholarship assistance available if needed.

The fee for non-Westfield residents is $40 for the first child, $35 for the second and $30 for the third (maximum of $105 per family).

CORN HOLE LEAGUE STARTING NEXT MONTH

Starting on Wednesday, Feb. 6, there will be the adult corn hole league. The league will take place on Wednesday evenings from 7-8:30 p.m. at Eason Hall in Westfield. Teams must have at least two players, with a maximum of four. All participants must be at least 18 years old. To sign up for the league, call us at 753-6842 (Andrew) or message us on our Facebook page.

VILLAGE OF WESTFIELD WALKING TRAILS

There are five measured walking trails in the Village of Westfield. They are described on signs in Moore Park and the Welch Field. The trails are marked with color coded reflectors. Maps are also available at the Village of Westfield window in the Eason Hall.

JOB SERVICE

Westfield residents needing help with snow shoveling and odd jobs are asked to call the Westfield Recreation Department at 753-6842 and the department will assist in arranging for a local teen to help. The Recreation Department is looking for more local teens that are willing to help with the job-service. Please call the number above if you’re interested.
