Support Audubon: get your taxes done, plan for spring, have some fun

Submitted Photo Going “Behind the Scenes” with Wild Kingdom’s Peter Gros is one of a number of Audubon Exclusives: special opportunities you receive in return for your donation to Audubon Community Nature Center. There are only a few spots left for this unique experience at Struthers Library Theatre in Warren on Sunday.

JAMESTOWN — There are so many ways you can support Audubon Community Nature Center (ACNC) while receiving something for yourself in return.

How would you like to get your taxes done … learn about making maple syrup … have a professional help you plan your garden … or go on a hunt for timber rattlesnakes — all while supporting nature education in Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Warren counties?

These and more are Audubon Exclusives: services, private programs, and fundraising events offered by staff, board, volunteers, and friends in exchange for a donation to ACNC. Each one is distinctive and available only through Audubon. Audubon Exclusive services currently being offered include:

¯ 2018 Income Tax Preparation: A CPA who has had her own tax prep business for more than 30 years can assist you with the many changes in the tax law.

¯ Garden Consultation: Audubon’s new president, who worked for seven years at Denver Botanic Gardens, will help you with a garden plan, plant recommendations, and suggested steps with timeline.

¯ Rent-a-Friend Seasonal Yardwork: Get ready for spring lawn and garden maintenance like tree and limb cutting, pruning, weeding, landscaping, mowing, clearing brush, planting, cleaning gutters, light chainsaw work, etc.

¯ Coin Appraisal: Learn if that collection you inherited has any value with an appraisal by the long-time president of the Jamestown Coin Club.

Upcoming events include:

¯ A photo session/meet-and-greet with Wild Kingdom’s Peter Gros before his show at Struthers Library Theatre, Sunday afternoon, March 3. (Better hurry, though: this is almost sold-out.)

¯ Spaghetti Dinner, Saturday, March 30 — with great Audubon fun!

Private programs available now are:

¯ Grandpa Dave’s Storytelling and Folklore: entertainment sure to please your gathering of family, youth group, and more.

¯ Restoring Health – One Meal at a Time: presentation RN and plant based nutrition specialist Janeen Beard.

¯ Maple Syrup Lesson and Demonstration: from identifying and tapping maple trees, to finishing the syrup, including bottles to take home

¯ Timber Rattlesnake “Hunt”: plan now to travel to St. Marys, Pa., for this guided experience
