Anderson-Lee Library announces special events for summer reading

Submitted Photo “The Checkers Show" will help Anderson-Lee Library kick off its Summer Reading Program, "A Universe of Stories" on Tuesday, June 25 at 6 p.m. Along with celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the first moon landing, The Checker's Show promises to amaze the audience while teaching the importance of reading throughout the summer. The performance is a vibrant blend of magic, comedy, juggling, and stunts. All ages are welcome and registration is required.

SILVER CREEK — Anderson-Lee Library, located at 43 Main St. in Silver Creek has announced its programming for the Summer Reading Program, “A Universe of Stories” to be held from June 25 through Aug. 1. All programs are free and open to the public. Registration is required and sometimes limited to ensure enough seating and materials for all patrons attending the program. To register for programs, call the library at 934-3468, stop by 43 Main St., message us on Facebook, or visit www.andersonleelibrary.org and click on our events tab for easy online registration. You can also sign up for email/text reminders when you register online!

June 25, 5 to 7 p.m: Summer Reading Kickoff Party with The Checkers Show! Come from 5 to 5:45 p.m. to register for the summer reading program, “A Universe of Stories!” Play games and make cool space crafts! The Checkers Show is at 6 p.m. and registration is required.

June 27 at 10:30 a.m.: Nan Hoffman at Anderson-Lee Library. All ages are invited to join us during our usual storytime slot for music and stories with Nan! Registration is required.

June 28 at 12:30 p.m. Friday Matinee. We will show a matinee for all ages related to the summer reading theme of “A Universe of Stories.” Feel free to bring a snack or a bag lunch. Call the library for the title.

Saturday June 29 at 11 a.m.: Make a Button Moon Collage. All ages are invited to attend this craft program. Note that small buttons and beads will be used to create this collage. Registration is required and is limited to 12 participants.

July 2 at 6:30 p.m. LEGO Club. All ages are welcome to join us for our monthly building challenge.

July 5 at 12:30 p.m. Friday Matinee. We will show a matinee for all ages related to the summer reading theme of “A Universe of Stories.” Feel free to bring a snack or a bag lunch. Call the library for the title.

July 8 at 6 p.m. Martz Observatory. Come by to learn more about your local observatory, planets and space. Enjoy viewing some of the images captured by the observatory! This program is geared towards adults and registration is helpful to plan for seating.

July 11 at 10:30 a.m. Preschool and School-Age Storytime. Children will participate in reading, singing, rhymes and fun crafts. Children under 3 will need a parent/caregiver present. Bring a bag lunch and stay for The Jeffers at noon! Registration is required.

July 11 at noon. The Jeffers at Anderson-Lee Library, 43 Main St., Silver Creek. Part of our summer reading programming, “A Universe of Stories”. Registration is required.

July 12 at 12:30 p.m. Friday Matinee. We will show a matinee for all ages related to the summer reading theme of “A Universe of Stories.” Feel free to bring a snack or a bag lunch. Call the library for the title.

Saturday, July 13 at 11 a.m.: Moon Storytime at Anderson-Lee Library in Silver Creek. This story time is for kids 5 and up. Hear stories about the moon and participate in a phases of the moon activity which involves cookies! Registration is required and is limited to 12 participants.

Tuesday, July 16 at 4 p.m.: Come and be a part of the U.S. Space and Rocket Center’s Global Rocket Launch to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the launch of Apollo 11! We will make simple rockets to launch together as part of this world wide celebration and attempt to break a world record! All ages are welcome!

July 16 at 7 p.m.: Teen Book Talk at Anderson-Lee Library, 43 Main St., Silver Creek. All teens age 13 to 17 are invited to bring a book they are reading or have read and share it with the group. Refreshments are provided.

July 18 at 10:30 a.m. Preschool and School Storytime. Children will participate in reading, singing, rhymes and fun crafts. Children under 3 ½ will need a parent/caregiver present. Registration is required.

July 19 at 12:30 p.m. Friday Matinee at Anderson-Lee library. We will show a matinee for all ages related to the summer reading theme of “A Universe of Stories.” Feel free to bring a snack or a bag lunch. Call the library for the title.

Monday, July 22 at 6:30 p.m.: Cupcake Decorating with Baker Jo. Kids from ages 11 to 14 are invited to come and learn how to make animal decorated cupcakes. All materials will be provided and each participant will go home with 2 or 3 cupcakes. Registration is required and limited to 10 participants.

July 23 at 6:30 p.m. Tinker Tuesday. All ages are invited to tinker and build with a variety of materials.

July 25 at 10:30 a.m. Yoga Storytime with Lynda Sandoval from Yoga Underground. Join us for yoga, stories, and a craft! Registration is required.

July 26 at 12:30 p.m. Friday Matinee. We will show a matinee for all ages related to the summer reading theme of “A Universe of Stories.” Feel free to bring a snack or a bag lunch. Call the library for the title.

July 27 at 1 p.m. Astrology Explained with Rev. Suzanne Suchan, BMsc. Do you enjoy reading your daily horoscope in the paper? Stop by for this class to learn about the basics of Astrology and discover what the stars might have to say about you! This program is for adults and registration is required.

August 1 at 6 p.m. Summer Reading Wrap-up Party with Nickel City Reptiles! Join us for the show and dessert! Summer reading participants may pick up their goody bags. Registration is required to ensure enough seating and dessert.
