Collection drive to benefit FeedMore WNY

On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Masons of the Chautauqua District will be hosting a drive-up, contact-free food and funds drive at Forest Lodge 166, 321 E Main St in Fredonia. The collection will be to benefit FeedMore WNY.

FeedMore WNY is the combined forces of The Food Bank of WNY, and Meals on Wheels for WNY. The goal of FeedMore WNY lies in its name: to feed more Western New Yorkers of all ages for whom securing nutritious food is a challenge. FeedMore WNY’s mission is to offer dignity, hope and a brighter future by providing nutritious food, friendship and skills training to its Western New York neighbors in need.

The parking lot at Forest Lodge will be converted into a two-lane traffic loop, and will allow vehicles in off of Main Street, follow the lane around to the back of the parking lot and circle back by the front of the building. At that point the driver may elect to remove the donations from their vehicle and place them in a designated location close by, or may “pop the trunk” and let one of our masked volunteers remove the items from the vehicle while they wait.

Checks made out to FeedMore WNY, as well as cash, will also be accepted, to assist with the purchase of perishable items that cannot be stored for long periods of time. Items most preferred for collection are: cereals; peanut or other nut-butters; canned tuna or chicken; canned soups, stews, chilis, fruits, and vegetables; beans, canned or dried; boxed mac-and-cheese, pastas and rices; spaghetti sauce; and baby food, formula, and diapers. All items collected will be taken to the Chautauqua County FeedMore WNY warehouse for distribution to local families in need.

Masonry is the world’s oldest and largest fraternal organization, and is based on the belief that each man has a responsibility to help make the world a better place. Through our culture of philanthropy, we make a profound difference for our brothers, our families, our communities, and our future.

The organization makes a difference for our youth, by offering up various youth organizations to help turn young people into successful adults. We also have a wonderful summer camp, Camp Turk on Round Lake in Woodgate, NY where young people can enjoy a few weeks each summer.

We make a difference in medicine. The Masonic Medical Research Institute is a not-for-profit institute conducting high-quality basic and clinical research for the development of the medical cures and treatments of tomorrow.

We make a difference in education. The Education Assistance Committee of Grand Lodge of New York through its Trustees administers a scholarship program for post high school level students with awards totaling over $500,000 annually.

We make a difference for our elderly. The Masonic Care Community of New York is a senior living provider in Utica, New York, owned and managed by the Trustees of the Masonic Hall and Home and the members of the Masonic Fraternity. Housed on 400 magnificent acres for our up to 500 elders, our residents enjoy a safe and secure country setting.
