Free sanitizer, mask giveaways set

The Chautauqua County Office for Aging Services will be holding two free mask and sanitizer give-aways for area seniors. The distribution events will be held this Friday and on Friday, July 10, from 10 a.m. to noon both days at Office for Aging Services’ locations at 610 W. Third St. in Jamestown; 7 N. Erie St. (back of the HRC Building) in Mayville; and 45 Cliffstar Ct. in Dunkirk. The event will help older adults in Chautauqua County receive free personal protective equipment. Seniors can drive by one of the three sites to pick up hand sanitizer, face masks, and resource booklets. Two new cases of COVID-19 have been reported

Two new cases of COVID-19 were reported by the county Health Department on Tuesday, bringing the total to date to 120. The new cases involve men in their 60s and 30s. According to the county Health Department, there are currently eight active cases of county residents who continue to recover under orders from local health officials. In addition, there remains 116 people under quarantine/isolation, no hospitalizations, 105 recoveries, seven deaths and 12,749 negative test results.

Valley Historical Society meeting canceled

SINCLAIRVILLE — The July meeting of the Valley Historical Society has been canceled. The meeting place is not conducive to social distancing. The next scheduled meeting will be a picnic meeting in the Sinclairville park on Aug. 4. Distancing should not be a problem outdoors so this meeting will most likely take place as scheduled.

Blood drive to be held today

A blood drive will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. today at the Dunkirk Baptist Church, 876 Central Ave., Dunkirk.
