A quilting good time at Leon Historical Society

LEON — A small group of Leon Historical Society members and guests recently gathered at the Leon Fire Hall for donuts and coffee before venturing into the Amish folk art quilting class.

Soon machines were humming and irons were hot, and sunflowers emerged on towels and potholders.

Three more classes are scheduled in September. Sept. 12 is dresden fan mug rugs/pot holders, with those participating making a set of four pot holders. Sept. 19 the group will do a bear claw pattern and Sept. 26 the group will make a nine-patch Japanese-style apron.

Tuition for each class is $40 and includes all materials to finish one project and lunch.

All classes are conducted according to state Health Department guidelines for health and safety. Masks and social distancing are required.
