Operation Back the Blue gift basket drive planned

Local community and law enforcement supporters are coming together to show support to local police departments. A gift basket drive hosted by Patty Valentine is looking for support by helping to fill 400 gift bags that will be delivered to all local officers on Tuesday.

Donations are still needed and will be accepted. Items sought include bottled water, snack packs, hand sanitizer, band aids, dog treats, anything that would be of use to show support.

Volunteers are also needed to stuff bags. Donations can be dropped off at Lady of the Lake, 29 W. Main St. in Fredonia; pick up is also available. Those with questions are asked to call 708-9507.

Dunkirk American Legion to meet

Dunkirk Memorial American Legion Unit 62 Auxiliary monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. at Post 62, 211 Central Avenue. Dues for 2021 are now being accepted. Members are encouraged to attend and observe the New York State COVID-19 guidelines.

Brocton Seniors Executive Board to meet

The Brocton Portland Seniors Executive Board will hold a meeting, according to the organization’s bylaws, at 2 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Brocton American Legion in the legion’s outdoor pavilion. All members are welcomed to share ideas for future meetings. Anyone who cannot come is asked to call President Margaret Jagoda at 792-7385 for information and suggestions.

Portland fire changes times of meeting

PORTLAND — The Sept. 14 meeting of the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Portland Fire District has been changed from the regular time of 7:30 p.m., to 6:30 p.m. due to the department meeting being held at 8 p.m. due to the Labor day holiday.
