Anderson-Lee Library presents: Native American Heritage Month talk by Terry Jones

The enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians is a member of the Wolf Clan. He shares his passion for Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) history and culture through his film works. He will present a video he produced while researching historical trauma and the American Indian residential boarding school experience, and screen his short documentary “Thomas Indian School Reunion” and his yet-to-be released short film, “Savage/Future.” An audience Q & A, light refreshments and traditional Iroquois roast corn soup will follow the video screenings. The event begins is free and begins at 6 p.m. at 43 Main St., Silver Creek. Call 934-3468 to pre-register.

International Student Services Global Banquet

The Global Banquet, which raises money to support international student scholarships, begins at 6:30 p.m. in the SUNY FredoniaWilliams Center Multipurpose Room. It is open to students, faculty, staff and community members. The buffet style dinner – representative of the home countries of Fredonia’s international students – will include: tabouli salad, seaweed salad, breaded pork chop, bulgogi, vegetable curry, vegetable dumplings, vegetable tempura, tiramisu and assorted beverages. Performances by Fredonia students and a theme basket raffle will also be featured. The banquet is hosted by International Student Services and is free to Fredonia students who have a ticket. Tickets, for non-students, are $20 and are available at the Fredonia Ticket Office in the Williams Center.

Ripley Central School Board meeting

The public is welcome to attend this 6:30 p.m. meeting in the IRLA library in room 204.

Patterson Library presents: Ekstasis 2.0 Concert

Fredonia Farmers’ Market

The Fredonia Farmers’ Market is held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday November through mid-May at the Masonic Lodge, 321 E. Main St., Fredonia. It features a variety of vendors, with special events TBA. See the Fredonia Farmers’ Market FaceBook page for updates.

Gowanda Moose Lodge 1382 towel bingo

Doors open at 10 a.m. at 201 Aldrich St., Gowanda, with bingo starting at 11 a.m. Admission is $5. Food is available for purchase. There will be a basket raffle, a quarter raffle and 50/50 in addition to the opportunity to win towels.

Lakeshore Humane Society open adoption hours

The Lakeshore Humane Society, 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk, will hold open adoption hours from noon to 3 p.m. For those who are not vaccinated, masks covering the nose and mouth must be worn at all times on the grounds of LHS. Masks are optional for those fully vaccinated. Those who are ill or have tested positive for COVID are asked to delay a visit. Tours of the facility will not be given. Audubon Holiday Cardboard Village Make-and-Take Day

1600 Riverside Road, Jamestown. From noon to 3:30 p.m. Adults $10, Nature Center members $7.50, children 3 to 15, $7.50. Free 2 and under. Reservations appreciated by Nov. 17. Create a mini winter village using cardboard, paint, and creativity. Basic directions, examples, cardboard, paint and other decorations are provided to complete this activity. Guests are encouraged to bring any cardboard cutting tools such as a utility knife. Dress for painting.

Stage on Screen presentation: “Spartacus”

The 1891 Fredonia Opera House presents the Bolshoi Ballet from Moscow via satellite at 1 p.m. Tickets are $15 for the general public and $10 for students.

St. John’s United Church of Christ traditional Thanksgiving dinner

Must pre-order at 366-0710 by Nov. 14. A meal of turkey, gravy, stuffing, homemade squash and dessert will be available for pickup from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Drive into the church parking lot from the Eagle Street entrance in Dunkirk.

B.E. Strong 716 Italian dinner fund-raiser

The dinner takes place from 4:45 to 6:15 p.m. and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 339 E. Fourth St., Jamestown or take-out options are available. Tickets are $20 each and need to be purchased by Nov. 14. Visit the Facebook page. Proceeds go to the Salvation Army to purchase Christmas gifts for local children as part of the Angel Tree program in Bannon Eimiller’s memory.

1891 Fredonia Opera House Cinema Series

The 1891 Fredonia Opera House will present the documentary “The Rescue” at 7:30 p.m. It uses interviews and visual material to about the 2018 rescue of 12 boys and their coach from deep inside a flooded cave in Northern Thailand. Tickets are $7 for adults, $6.50 for Opera House members/seniors, $5 for students, At this time, ALL patrons are asked to wear masks when attending Opera House events.
