SILVER CREEK – Dozens of talented Black Knights have been rehearsing, building sets, practicing songs and preparing to entertain the community for months.

The community is invited to enjoy Silver Creek High’s student musical production of “The Addams Family” on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, at 7 p.m. with a matinée on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the auditorium. The show’s two acts will be split by a 15-minute intermission featuring a basket raffle to support the district’s Performing Arts Department.

The musical — inspired by the 1930s cartoon published in The New Yorker and the popular 1960s television adaptation of the same name – centers on the lovably macabre Addams clan led by Gomez and Morticia Addams.

This family friendly comedy embraces the wackiness in every family. It features an original story that’s every parent’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

Book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice; music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa. Based on characters created by Charles Addams.
