Workers’ Memorial Day to be marked on Saturday

Chautauqua County Workers’ Memorial Day will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Erlandson County Park, Oak Hill Road, Frewsburg.

Speakers this year include: Christine Schuyler, Chautauqua County director Of Health And Human Services who will speak on “COVID and the wellbeing of our county’s workforce. The keynote speaker will be Steve Healy, CSEA Region 6 president.

County labor leaders encourage all to attend and remember the co-workers who went to work one day and did not return.

The Chautauqua County Workers Memorial site is dedicated to “all” Chautauqua County workers who have been injured or Killed on the job. The Workers’ Memorial Site Includes The Workers Memorial Gazebo, a monument and a flagpole.

This Project Is A Joint Effort Of Jamestown-Central Labor Council, Dunkirk- Central Labor Council, Chautauqua County government, Chautauqua County Parks Commission and its sponsors. For those who attend, a commemorative program will be published and include the site’s history, a list of members who died at work and a list of sponsors. The Erlandson Park is a 78-acre park that includes nature trails, picnic facilities, observation platforms, restrooms and the Workers’ Memorial site.
