MAYVILLE — The Mayville Chautauqua Lions will be offering a Weidner’s barbecue chicken dinner from 3 to 6 p.m. or sold out Thursday at the Mayville American Legion, 144 S. Erie St., Mayville.

The dinner is a drive-through event that will be held rain or shine. Pre-sale tickets ave available for $15 and at the door for $16. Dinners include a half chicken, coleslaw, buttered spuds, roll and butter.

All preceded from this event will benefit the Lions Club’s community service projects.

For the past 75 years, through money it has raised, the Mayville Chautauqua Lions Club had provided support to the local communities, including Mayville, Westfield, Sherman, Clymer and Ripley. The club has conducted a variety of service projects and events throughout the years that include collecting/recycling used eyeglasses and hearing aids, helping at the local Food Pantry, providing free vision screenings for children 6 months through 12th grade, funding eyeglasses and comprehensive eye exams for children and adults. The club has also provided money to purchase an adaptive watch, white canes and specialized reading devices for visually impaired residents.

The Lions Club have also recognized local outstanding students that exemplify the qualities of future Lions through the Junior Lion Program and the Senior Awards Program.

Lions Club members have raised money to support these and other worthy causes through spaghetti dinners, Lions mint sales, basket giveaways and its upcoming chicken barbecue. For more information about the Lions Clubs in Chautauqua County or to purchase tickets, call or text 716-665-7432.
