POINSETTIA SALE UNDERWAY TO BENEFIT CLUB

A poinsettia sale is taking place to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Chautauqua County. The 6-inch plants are available in white, red, pink and marble and are $12 each. To place an order, call or text 716-698-2934. The Boys & Girls Club of Northern Chautauqua County serves more than 600 youth annually across the region. It is a United Way agency.

BISHOP TO ATTEND SERVICE DEC. 5

WESTFIELD — Residents are cordially invited to join St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 12 Elm St. in welcoming The Right Rev. Bishop Sean Rowe, of the diocese of Western New York-Northwestern Pennsylvania, on Monday, Dec. 5, at 5:30 p.m.

Rowe will be celebrating Holy Eucharist, receiving a congregant into the Church, and answering our questions and concerns. The gathering will enjoy a potluck soup and grilled cheese sandwich supper. If able, please bring a pot of soup to share. Sandwiches, tableware, and beverages will be provided.

ALTERNATIVE CHRISTMAS EVENT PLANNED

An Alternative Christmas Festival will take place at the Fredonia Presbyterian Church, 219 Central Ave. Times for the event will be: Friday, Dec. 2 from 4 to 6 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Sunday, Dec. 4 from noon to 2 pm.

Hundreds of nativities will be on display. Ethically sourced artisan crafts from around the world and Equal Exchange food products — chocolate, coffee — also will be for sale.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTING CONTEST

The town of Stockton is hosting a community Christmas lighting contest. Applications are available at the Stockton and Cassadaga libraries and the town clerk’s office, and should be returned by 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15. Applications can also be entered by calling the clerk’s office at 716-595-3192 ext. 1, by email at willsm@netsync.net, or dropped off at the Stockton Town Hall or the Stockton, Cassadaga library buildings.

LIBRARY PROGRAM FOCUSES ON TEACHER

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Sinclairville Free Library invites the public to visit the library on Monday at 6 p.m. to meet and learn more about Cassadaga Valley Central School Agriculture and Occupational Education teacher Cheryl Burns. The “Meet the Teacher” program is an opportunity for people in the community to learn more about our inspiring educators and the important work they are doing in our schools. Join the library to learn about the interesting things Ms. Burns’ students are learning and doing and learn about her accomplishments outside of the classroom, like participating in triathlons and wildlife rehabilitation.

The library is located at 15 Main St. For additional information about this event or other library programs and services, please call 716-962-5885 or send email to info@sinclairvillelibrary.org. The library will be closed on Thursday through Saturday for the Thanksgiving holiday. Please note that the library’s closing policy for inclement weather is to follow the lead of the Cassadaga Valley Central School system.

When school is closed or afterschool activities are canceled due to the weather, the library will also be closed.
