Fredonia OKs insurance carrier

The Fredonia Board of Trustees approved a new village insurance carrier for Fredonia duing a brief meeting Monday.

Lawley Insurance Company of Dunkirk was selected to handle village insurance for 2023.

According to Trustee Jon Espersen, the only other business conducted Monday was approving trustees to attend the New York Conference of Mayors’ winter legislative meeting.

Village officials initially discussed cancelling Monday’s meeting because it was the day after Christmas and there wasn’t much on the agenda. However, Mayor Douglas Essek pushed for the meeting to stay on the schedule, noting that the village ought to have an insurance carrier for 2023 firmed up by the end of 2022.

Unlike most Fredonia Board of Trustees meetings, Monday’s session was apparently not videotaped for the local public access channel or posted online.
