Scott Electric Supply acquired by Vermont company

Green Mountain Electric Supply announced it has acquired certain assets of Scott Electric Supply, located in Fredonia and Depew.

Scott Electric Supply is a two-branch, full-service electrical distributor in Western New York covering the Buffalo and eastern Lake Erie shore. The company was wholly owned by Sam Scott, who passed away earlier this year.

Scott also founded Scott Electric Company, headquartered in Greensburg, Pa., where he was the president until 2012 when the company became employee owned. Scott Electric provided management, operational, accounting and other services to Scott Electric Supply but did not own the business.

Since Scott’s passing, the responsibility of Scott Electric Supply was passed to his living trust and is managed by its trustees. The trustees decided to sell certain assets of Scott Electric Supply to Green Mountain Electric Supply.

“It was a tough decision to make, but in the end, it was the best circumstance for settling Mr. Scott’s affairs with his living trust,” said Bob Coletta, assistant general manager and purchasing manager of Scott Electric. “Our main concern was making sure all of the employees of Scott Electric Supply would have jobs. Green Mountain was very accommodating and made sure that would be the case.”

Green Mountain, headquartered in Colchester, Vt., has locations in Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and wWestern NY. The company has aggressively been growing its Western New York footprint and now has 18 locations throughout Western NY, making it the largest independent electrical distributor in the market.

“Scott Electric Supply has a strong presence and great reputation throughout the Buffalo and Fredonia markets,” said Nathan Laber, president and CEO of Green Mountain. “Our vision for growth, coupled with the Scott Electric Supply locations, employees, and customer base makes this an exciting opportunity for us. We look forward to welcoming the Fredonia and Depew teams to the Green Mountain Electric Supply Family.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
