The American Cancer Society student organization and Department of Communication associate professor and cancer survivor Mike Igoe announce that the 15th campus Relay for Life will be held in April at the State University of New York at Fredonia.

The 12-hour event is slated for Saturday from 2 p.m., until Sunday, April 23 at 2 a.m., in the Steele Hall Arena on campus.

The cancer fundraiser is designed to unite the Fredonia and Dunkirk communities to celebrate and encourage cancer patients, and remember those whose lives were lost.

Theevent is one of about 6,000 relays across six continents. The organizers are passionate about doing their part to support those affected by cancer through raising funds and awareness for cancer screenings, treatment and programs.

The student ACS group is joined by the ASL Club, Sound Services, and other SUNY Fredonia clubs and supporting local businesses in staging the event.

All are welcome to attend. Organizers hope to reach out to survivors, family, friends, or any people whose lives have been affected by cancer in some way.
