Coffee Club meets Friday

The Roblin Steel Coffee Club will meet at 8:30 a.m. Friday, April 14, at Central Station Restaurant, 332 Central Ave., Dunkirk.

Sewer District boad meets

April 25

A meeting of the board of director’s for the Portland, Pomfret, Dunkirk Sewer District will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, at Dunkirk Town Hall, 4737 Willow Road, Dunkirk. The meeting is open to the public.

Annual Allegany Nature Pilgrimage set

The 65th annual Allegany Nature Pilgrimage will be held from June 2-4 at Allegany State Park. Over 100 walks and talks by experts in their fields are available this year, including the Friday night program by Audubon Community Nature Center called “Feathers and Scales” featuring its animal ambassadors.

The weekend is around the clock natural history walks and talks starting with early morning bird walks and bird banding and ending with night walks, stargazing, and owl prowls. Field trips include strenuous hikes to view unique areas of the park, lots of kids friendly activities, a huge selection of natural history field trips, and seated presentations on a variety of nature topics. Sunset Bay FD to take part in RecruitNY Weekend

As part of RecruitNY Weekend, the Sunset Bay Volunteer Fire Company will open its doors on Saturday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The department is located at 12798 Alleghany Road in Sunset Bay. It will join hundreds of volunteer fire departments across New York to raise public awareness regarding the need for volunteers and to highlight the rewards of being a member of a volunteer fire department.

Throughout the day, the Sunset Bay Volunteer Fire Company will conduct tours of the station and apparatus, allow visitors to try on gear, demonstrate firefighting activities, provide information, and address questions on becoming a member. The activities give visitors a taste of what it means to be in the fire service. Volunteer firefighters will also be on hand to discuss the requirements and rewards of joining. All in the Silver Creek/Irving area are welcome and encouraged to attend, including families with children.

Gowanda CS to host town

hall meeting

Gowanda Central School residents are encouraged to participate in a town hall-style meeting to be held via Facebook Live on Wednesday from 6-7 p.m. Superintendent Dr. Robert Anderson is hosting an inclusive, virtual communication opportunity for residents to get an update on topics such as goals, strategic planning, equity, student achievement and more.

Those unable to participate in real time are encouraged to submit questions or topics for discussion in advance via email to district clerk Kathy Ferneza at msferneza@gcslearn.org or at 716-532-3325, ext. 6300. The deadline to submit questions is noon on Wednesday.

The meeting will conclude with a question-and-answer session. The virtual forum is recorded and archived on the district Facebook page and can be viewed at residents’ convenience.
