New children’s books celebrated in Sinclairville

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Sinclairville Free Library is pleased to announce the addition of 76 new hardcover children’s picture books and juvenile fiction and nonfiction books from a Children’s Book Project Grant from The Pilcrow Foundation sponsored through a generous donation from Marisa Young of Maryland.

Donor-sponsored programs through the Foundation increased the library’s collection of children’s books with an additional 18 new juvenile health and wellness books provided by a generous donation from Drs. Bill Strawbridge and Meg Wallhagen of California and 23 math and science books provided by a generous donation from Hal Berenson and Laura Ackerman of Colorado.

The Children’s Book Project Grant, which is given on a two-to-one matching basis, supplies small rural libraries with new hardcover children’s books. The library’s contribution of $400 was raised by a Read-a-thon in February. The Pilcrow Foundation’s 2 to 1 matching grant enabled the library to select $1,200 worth of books from the Foundation’s booklist.

Please join us on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. for an open house reception to celebrate the debut of our new books. Light refreshments will be provided.

The Pilcrow Foundation offers this grant to small rural libraries in the country that would not otherwise be able to acquire these books because of limited budgets. The Foundation relies heavily on individual donations. All contributions to the Pilcrow Foundation are tax-deductible. For information on donating to the Foundation, write to The Pilcrow Foundation, 343 E. Washington Avenue, Cottage Grove, Oregon 97424.

The library would like to thank all those who made donations in support of the Read-a-thon, the readers, The Pilcrow Foundation, and the donors listed above for making it possible to add these new books for the children in our community to enjoy.

Starting at $2.99/week.
