Centaur Stride planning Fun Run, Walk

SHERMAN – Centaur Stride Therapeutic Riding Facility has announced its annual Centaur Stride Fun Run, set to take place on Saturday, Sept. 6, at its scenic 63-acre facility, located at 8488 Jones Road. This event invites individuals of all ages and abilities to come together for a day of fitness, fun, and community spirit.

Participants can choose between a 1K Fun Run, starting at 1 p.m., or a 5K Fun Run, starting at 1:30, both set along the facility’s beautiful, wooded trails. Whether you’re a seasoned runner, taking on a new challenge or just want to support our mission, everyone will be celebrated with a completion medal to honor their achievement.

Pre-registration online is through Friday at $20 per person. Day of event registration is from noon to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at $25 per person.

The Centaur Stride Fun Run is more than just a race — it’s an event to support an important local cause. Centaur Stride is a nonprofit therapeutic and recreational horseback riding facility dedicated to providing inclusive services to individuals with and without disabilities. Rooted in the healing power of horses and nature, Centaur Stride works to enhance the mind and body through integrative equine experiences. There will be barn tours and demonstrations available and any questions are welcomed.

Proceeds from the event will help cover operational costs, making it possible for Centaur Stride to continue to provide essential services to people across Chautauqua County and the vicinity.

We are still looking for sponsors to make this event more successful. Level of support include: Bronze from $100-$599; Silver from $600-$1499, Gold from $1500-$4999, and Platinum over $5000. The annual cost for care and training for one horse is over $4000. We have 14 horses. The number and variety of our horses is needed due to the special needs, sizes, and abilities of our riders. Not all horses are good for all riders. We must carefully select a match and work with the horses daily to keep them conditioned and ready for our clients.

Present sponsors include: Chautauqua Chemical Company, Lake Shore Bank, Inner Lakes Federal Credit Union, Refresco, and CRS Septic. To learn more about Centaur Stride or to get involved, visit: www.centaurstride.org

In addition to our race, there will be a coloring contest. Winners will be drawn randomly from entries and prizes include free lessons at Centaur Stride. To download a copy of the Centaur Coloring Sheet, go to: Coloring page options.docx on our Linktree site https://linktr.ee/centaurstride our facebook or linktee websites. Entries can be emailed back to us at info@centaurstride.org or brought to the race on Sept 6. Deadline for entries online is Sept. 5, or in person at the event Sept. 6 by 1 p.m.

Starting at $3.50/week.
