‘Wicked: For Good’ screenings at Opera House
“Wicked: For Good” is showing on Saturday and Tuesday, at 7:30 p.m.
The Cinema Series continues at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center with screenings of “Wicked: For Good,” on Saturday and Tuesday, at 7:30 p.m. The Tuesday night screening will be shown with captions visible on the screen.
Now demonized as the Wicked Witch of the West, Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) lives in exile in the Ozian forest, while Glinda resides at the palace in Emerald City, reveling in the perks of fame and popularity. As an angry mob rises against the Wicked Witch, she’ll need to reunite with Glinda (Ariana Grande) to transform herself, and all of Oz, for good.
The London Evening Standard calls the film “an exhilarating piece of movie musical magic.” The New York Times calls it “a testament to diversity (species included) as a common good, as well as to love, friendship and solidarity.” The Travers Take says “Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande are twice as wonderful the second time around.” New York Magazine says the film “brings the ‘Wicked’ cycle to a surprisingly satisfying conclusion.” Rated PG for some suggestive material, action, violence, and thematic material, “wicked: For Good” runs two hours, 17 minutes.
Tickets are available at the door for $7 (adults), $6.50 (seniors & Opera House members) and $5 (students) the night of each screening. The Opera House is equipped with assistive listening headsets for the hearing-impaired. Simply request one from any usher or staff member. The Opera House Cinema Series is generously sponsored by Lake Shore Bank.
