Gas prices continue steep hikes The national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $3.94, up 22 cents from March 16. One year ago, the price was $3.13. The New York state average is $3.86, up 24 cents from last Monday. A year ago, the state average was $3.10. In Chautauqua County, gas prices on Monday were between $3.69 and $3.80 per gallon. A musical mashup of the science fiction, comedy and horror genres hits the stage this March at Fredonia. The Performing Arts Collaborative, a student-led theater group, presents “Little Shop of Horrors” from Friday to Sunday in the Alice E. Bartlett Theatre of Rockefeller Arts Center. Performance times are 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday. Tickets are available online 24/7 at fredonia.edu/tickets. Tickets may also be purchased on Mon-day, Wednesday or Friday by phone at 716-673-3501 or in person at the Ticket Office in the Wil-liams Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and at the door. “Little Shop of Horrors” follows a meek flower shop assistant who discovers a man-eating plant that promises fame and fortune in exchange for blood, forcing him into “a Faustian bargain to win the girl he loves.” In addition to dark humor, the show is known for its catchy pop/rock score including “Suddenly Seymour” and “Skid Row (Downtown).” Howard Ashman, book and lyrics, and Alan Menken, music, (Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty And The Beast,” and “Aladdin”) are “the crea-tive geniuses behind what has become one of the most popular shows in the world.” PAC is Fredonia’s second largest student organization. Silver Creek Senior Citizens meet

SILVER CREEK – The Silver Creek Seniors met on a cold, snowy March 17 with 15 members present. President Randy Nurmi opened the meeting with all saying the Pledge of Allegiance and singing God Bless America. Dolly’s Catering served a delicious St. Patrick’s Day meal of corned beef and cabbage, potatoes and carrots along with a scrumptious 3 layer cake.
