Sheridan flea market is Friday and Saturday

SHERIDAN — The Lake Shore Flea Market will be at the Sheridan VFW Memorial Post, 2556 Route 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Auxiliary chooses Girl State candidates CASSADAGA — The Cassadaga American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1280 held an informal meeting last month with nine members attending. Paula Pattison reported that we held one funeral luncheon for the family of Squadron 1280 member Kurt Scott. She continues to send get well and sympathy cards as needed. Legion Post 59 sets Chili Cook-Off American Legion Post 59, located at 156 E. Main St., Fredonia, will hold a Chili Cook-Off on Sunday at 2 p.m. The event is open to the public. There will be trophies, prizes and bragging rights for the following categories: traditional chili and open category — chowder, gumbo, soup or side dish. The cost is $5 for entry, taste/judge. Dunkirk church plans Lenten Recital series

The Annual Lenten Recitals will once again be held at the First United Presbyterian Church at 19 W. Fourth St. in Dunkirk beginning on Wednesday, March 11 at noon with recitals also performed on March 18and March 25. The recitals this year will feature local musicians in half hour recitals highlighting literature appropriate to the season. The opening recital in the Lenten series will feature Virginia M.
