Panama Central School to host Frida Kahlo Traveling Exhibit

PANAMA – Panama Central School will display a Teacher’s Discovery Traveling Exhibit featuring the Mexican paintings of Frida Kahlo.

Frida was married to Mexican muralist Diego Rivera, but won acclaim for her own paintings, including many self-portraits. The students and staff will enjoy the beautiful reproductions, including life-size photos of Frida, all this week. The exhibit celebrates fine art, women in art and Mexican culture for this year’s Foreign Language Week at the school.

The Foreign Language Club is hosting this exhibit while collaborating with the Art Department. Although this event is free, the school will kindly accept monetary donations or baked goods to be able to continue bringing museum artwork to the area by international artists. The community is invited to attend the open “Gallery” evening in the school cafeteria Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Debrra Bailey, Britta VanAkin, Carolina Delahoy and Millie Torres-Ruiz also invite you to observe activities and artwork made by their students.
