Fredonia musical wins two awards

BUFFALO – The Fre-donia Central School Dis-trict won two awards for this year’s high school musical.

During the 23rd annual Kenny Awards it was announced Fredonia High School won the Outstand-ing Technical Design and Outstanding Costume De-sign awards for its musical “Aida.”

Fredonia was the only local winner. Forestville had also been nominated for the Kenny Awards for its production of “Into the Woods.”

The Kenny Awards recognize western New York high school talent for excellence in producing and performing musicals.

Clarence High School’s “Young Frankenstein” won Outstanding Musical Production. Along with the award, Clarence will receive a $5,000 grant from the Lipke Foundation for the school’s musical theatre department.
