North Shore Arts Alliance is a not-for-profit cooperative marketing, promotional, and membership organization working on behalf of artists in Chautauqua County. The organization seeks to foster an environment where art strengthens our County’s image, economic vitality, and quality of life.
To that end, the North Shore Arts Alliance offers juried membership to local artists as well as membership opportunities for individuals and businesses who want to support our efforts to promote and integrate the arts into everyday life in the community.
Its signature event is the Chautauqua-Lake Erie Art Trail, a free open-studio tour in northern Chautauqua County. The Open Studio Tour is May 27 and 28. The art trail incorporates 22 professional artists whose work represents a variety of media: painting, photography, sculpture, pottery, jewelry, fiber arts, wood, and mixed media.
One of the artists participating is Katherine Galbraith. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Galbraith is a nationally known artist who has received numerous awards and recognition throughout her career. She is a Merit Scholar at the National Academy Museum School of Fine Art, she studied under Daniel Greene, NA, and Robert Phillip, NA. More recently Galbraith studied under Michelle Dunaway.
A Westfield resident, in May 2013, she opened The Station Art Gallery & Studio of Katherine Galbraith. There she hosts Plein Air Westfield and teaches workshops in plein air and portraiture. She is dedicated to advancing the arts in her community and teaching, as well as striving for excellence in her work.
Galbraith’s major one-woman shows include events in Bronxville, NY; Raleigh, NC; Atlanta, GA; Boston, MA; St. Simons Island, GA; Sea Island, GA; Pittsburgh, PA; and Westfield, NY. Her work has been juried into some of the most prestigious shows in the United States.
Katherine’s work has been featured in Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine,International Artist, Art of the Portrait, Outdoor Painter, Veranda, Better Homes and Gardens, Southern Living, Where: Boston, and has often appeared in Coastal Living.
