3rd on 3rd Gallery to open Myjtownny Instagram photo show

JAMESTOWN — The newly relocated and renovated 3rd on 3rd Gallery at Reg Lenna Center for The Arts officially opens with the Myjtownny photography show. The gallery will open July 31 and hold a free public reception on August 3 at 5:30 p.m.

Curator Debra Eck says, “Every year during the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival thousands of tourists visit the area. This show presents OUR local Jamestown to them.” Participants took an Instagram picture of anything inside the Jamestown City limits that represents their city and posted the pictures with #Myjtownny.

The photographers represented in Myjtownny include: Allison Slagle, Carrie Tredo, Autumn Echo, Tara Eastman, Sarah Chapman, Hillary Meyer, Jessica Carr, Jennifer Little, Zach Agett, Kathy Storms, Kristen Johnson, Megan Arnone, Barry Meyer, Christopher Riolo, Lisa Miller, Stefan Duga, Stephanie Zwyghuien, Steve Hayes, Sarah Cleary, Dan Swackhammer, Terrie Johnson, Sheila Webster and Peter Garami. More will be announced closer to the exhibition.

The show will be open to the public July 31, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., Aug. 1 and 2, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., Aug. 3, from 10 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. and Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

A free public reception will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 3 with several of the artists in attendance. Immediately following the reception, guests are welcome to attend Candid Camera’s 8 Decades of Smiles! with Peter Funt at 7:30 p.m. in the Reg Lenna Center for The Arts theater. Beginning Aug. 7, regular gallery hours will be 10 a.m. until 6 p.m Tuesday through Saturday. 3rd on 3rd Gallery will be closed Sundays, Mondays and most major holidays.

Myjtownny runs through August 25.

The Gallery’s relocation and remodeling was part of a larger construction project affecting most of Reg Lenna Center for The Arts. Demolition for the multi-million dollar project began in December, 2017 with renovation and construction following in early 2018. Funding for the project comes from Western New York Regional Economic Development Council DRI, Ralph C. Sheldon Foundation, Gebbie Foundation and Lenna Foundation.

Shows at 3rd on 3rd Gallery are made possible by grant support from New York State Council On The Arts. 3rd On 3rd Gallery is located at 108 E. 3rd St. in the Reg Lenna Center for The Arts in Jamestown.
